Keeping your dog groomed is an essential part of responsible dog ownership. Regular grooming not only helps to keep your dog looking and smelling great, but it also helps to maintain their overall health and well-being. At Furry and Fabulous Pet Spa, we understand that life just gets in the way and you may not be able to bring your pup in for their groom right on time. And that's okay! It is, however, our recommendation that slight grooming takes place at home in between visits to our Pet Spa!
So what can you do at home?
Brushing
One of the most important parts of grooming your dog is brushing their coat. Regular brushing helps to remove loose fur, dirt, and debris from their coat, which can help to prevent matting and tangles. It also helps to distribute natural oils throughout their coat, which helps to keep their skin and fur healthy. The frequency of brushing will depend on your dog's coat type, but generally, dogs with long or thick coats will require more frequent brushing.
Bathing
Bathing is another important part of keeping your dog groomed. Dogs should be bathed when they start to smell or when they have gotten particularly dirty. Use a mild dog shampoo and avoid getting water in their ears or eyes. After the bath, make sure to towel dry your dog and brush their coat to prevent matting.
We are MORE than happy to do this step for you here at FnF. However, if your pup rolls in something smelly, like they seem to LOVE to do, and your appointment with us is a week away, it is important to keep your dog's coat clean and healthy in the meantime!
We have the perfect at-home Dog Shampoo and Conditioner for such an occasion. Underwater Dogs will leave your pooch smelling beautiful and feeling amazing!

Nail Trimming
Long nails can cause discomfort and pain for dogs, so it's important to keep their nails trimmed. If you're unsure about how to do this, don't worry, we have you covered! Here at FnF, we offer a simple walk-in service for your pup's nail appointments. This means, any time the scratches become a little too much, you can just pop in-store and our groomer will take care of it for you!
Ear cleaning
Regular ear cleaning is important to prevent infections and ear mites. Use a gentle ear cleaner and cotton balls to clean the visible parts of your dog's ears. Avoid using cotton swabs, as they can push dirt and debris further into the ear canal.
Teeth cleaning
Dental hygiene is important for dogs, just as it is for humans. You can help keep your dog's teeth clean by brushing them regularly with a dog toothbrush and toothpaste. Avoid using human toothpaste, as it can be toxic to dogs.
